Dr. Pooh
[quote]Posted: Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 3:26 pm EDT
There have been a lot of zombie talk lately, and about a month ago I was in a zombie mood. I wanted to see if I could write about zombies. The only way I can think of to do this is to have a collection of stuff in one book. My idea is that in the future there is some sort of zombie infestation. That lasts for however long, and kills millions of people. After this, something happens and there is hope. I haven't decided if the zombies are completely defeated or if it's just another threat that will be always out there. Kinda like people are waiting for the bird flu epidemic, or whatever. I'm hoping for the latter, and this book would be something that would be passed down generation to generation. Strange, but the only thing I can think to compare it to is the Bible. It's a collection of stories, poems, etc that chronicles certain parts of history, but have one theme. The Word of God. This zombie book is a collection of not necessarily what happened in the zombie times, but personal accounts of what happened to each person. I'm starting with a 7 part poem. I will probably split them up with stories in the middle. I apologize to any who find this offensive, cause I know nothing about poetry.Raspberry Each poem takes place over a day. So here you go.

R.T. Graham. Son, Poet, Bane survivor. R.T. wrote this poem for his mother during the third cycle of the Keever Plan (KP3). Although it has not been proven, Graham has suggested that this was written from personal accounts. According to Graham, his mother would tell him the story that this poem was based upon. The Grahams lived off of the Buffalo National River. Somewhere between the towns of Ponca and Compton. There are public records of a mother and son living in this area, and their life and whereabouts match closely to his mother's story.

Waiting for Joseph

Mother is knitting. Needles churn.
A scarf for the son, her concern.
The dark, blood red yarn is her drive.
Seven days 'fore Joseph's return.

After each loop, her heart does thrive.
More hope that her son is alive.
It keeps her sane, though alone.
Seven days till her son arrives.

"....HHHHNNNNnnnn!!!..."

Then outside, mother hears a moan.
A preemie, judging by the tone.
The time to prepare is now here.
Soon Joseph's presence will be shown.

Mother gets up. Nightfall is near.
Check all the guns stacked at the rear.
She checks all doors, assures they're locked.
Seven days, Joseph sheds her fear.

Guns are loaded, bullets are stocked.
As mother thinks a plan to concoct,
Sleeps as exhaustion prevails.
Seven days was when Joseph knocked.
